Atlas Systems and Zepheira Form Archival Data Partnership
New product will help expose unique collections on the Web
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – June 23, 2016 – Atlas Systems, the leading provider of time-saving solutions for libraries, and Zepheira, whose Linked Data products and services use the power of Web technologies to increase real world relevance, announce today a joint partnership that will streamline the transformation of archival data to Linked Data. Together the companies will offer a product to convert and deliver archival data to The Library.Link Network. The Library.Link Network is the shared Linked Data platform managed by Zepheira and used by other services to make library, archives, and special collections data visible on the Web. A formal product and process for the transformation and publishing of archival records is expected to be available in late July.
The forthcoming product leverages the current offering of MARC record to Linked Data transformations provided by Zepheira with other library catalog partners to offer a way for archives, special collections, and historical societies to expose their unique collections on the Web for easier discovery. Atlas will utilize Zepheira’s transformation and publishing technologies to convert archival records and reveal them to the Web using Linked Data vocabularies including BIBFRAME. Atlas is a founding member of the Libhub Initiative, which provided the basis for making this product possible.
