Inside Atlas 2021: Finance

The Atlas Systems’ 2021 fiscal year ran from July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021. Despite COVID-19 being in full force for the entirety of the fiscal year, we experienced growth in our customer base across all product and service areas for Aeon, ArchivesSpace, Ares, and Concierge subscriptions.
Traditionally, a large portion of our budget is devoted to travel to support in-person implementations and conferences. We adjusted to a remote delivery model for implementation which allowed us to reduce costs and pass the savings on to our customers. While conferences were virtualized, we continued to sponsor regional and professional associations in new ways. In addition, we were able to redirect a greater proportion of our budget to sponsor scholarships and online webinars that support professional development with a focus on underrepresented communities.
With so many of our customers and Atlas staff working remotely this past year, we implemented a number of changes to our invoicing to easily accept electronic payments. Currently, more than 80% of customers have switched to electronic payments making billing more efficient for all.
The landscape for 2022 remains opaque but promising. Some uncertainty remains about travel, budgets, and overall user needs. One thing that will not change is Atlas’ dedication to evaluating and enacting changes to meet the needs of our customers. Atlas is committed to holding our product and services fees flat and have been able to accomplish this goal for over 10 years. We are happy to follow this tradition and will not increase fees for 2022.
