OCLC ILLiad Installation Wizard

At any point during the implementation process before your on-site training, you can begin filling out your OCLC ILLiad Installation Wizard. This toolkit asks you a series of questions about your policies, contact information and customization preferences for your ILLiad database. You can close the wizard at any time and come back to it later to fill it out. Once you've completed the wizard, send it to so that we can apply it to your ILLiad installation. If you change your mind later about any of the settings, you can easily edit them using your Customization Manager.

Downloading and Running the Installation Wizard

  1. For the Installation Wizard to run, it must be copied to your hard drive. This enables the Installation Wizard to save your selected key settings, system information, and functional parameters. Download the Installation Wizard zip file to your local hard drive. This zip file contains an ILLiadInstallationWizard.exe file and an InstallationWizard.txt file. You will need to copy both files from the zip file to your local machine. Both files need to be in the same folder (or on your desktop) as the program edits the text file as you answer the questions.

If you would like to print out the questions from the Installation Wizard, you can download the Installation Wizard questions in a Word document to review without having to be at the computer. The Word document is for your reference only and can not be used to setup your server.

  2. Run the ILLiadInstallationWizard.exe from your local hard drive. You do not need to complete the Installation Wizard all at once, but can come back to it by running this file again and picking up where you left off.
NOTE: As long as you do not overwrite the c:\OCLCILLiadInstallationWizard\InstallationWizard.txt file, your answers will be saved.

  3. Note for single server installations, your Site Code at the bottom should remain as ILL. For shared server installations, your Site Code should be the code for your processing site (also called the NVTGC field).
  4. When you have completed the wizard, you can then export the SQL file to apply it to your ILLiad installation. Choosing Export will automatically create the sql file in the same folder where you ran the Installation Wizard. If you are installing OCLC ILLiad on a server at your institution, copy the exported SQL file and save it to the desktop of the server. If you are having your server hosted by Atlas Systems or OCLC, email the exported SQL file to
NOTE: If your server is shared between several sites, you will need to fill out an Installation Wizard for each site.
