ILLIAD IMPLEMENTATION RESPONSIBILITIES
Atlas is responsible for:
- Setting up Windows 2003 Server with ILLiad and all required components.
- Installing ILLiad Server Upgrades. Once the upgrade is complete, instructions and links to the new files are sent to the site for upgrading their client machines (if necessary).
- Performing general server maintenance tasks.
- Setting up the server when the site is ready to 'Go Live'.
- Troubleshooting server-related ILLiad issues.
The Hosted Site is responsible for:
- Modifying all web pages.
- Making any necessary changes in Customization Manager.
- Installing/Upgrading ILLiad Clients and other ILLiad applications on each client machine, after they have been notified that Atlas has completed the server upgrade.
- Modifying Print/Email documents locally (the only exception is the elecdel.txt file, which is kept on the web server).
SERVER SETUP AND MAINTENANCE
Server Setup
- The ILLiad server is set up on two servers, a Web Server and a SQL Server.
- All ILLiad services (ILLiadGateway, ILLiadISOService, etc.) are installed by default.
- NTP (Network Time Protocol) is installed on all servers. NTP synchronizes the time on the Web Server and SQL Server with a central server to ensure the time is accurate.
- Monitors are set up to notify Atlas staff by email and phone when ILLiad or Web services are down or the hard drive is nearing capacity.
- Anti virus software definitions update nightly.
Server Maintenance
- SQL Database is backed up to a local file every five hours.
- Backups are run nightly on the SQL Database, ILLiad files, and Web pages (including pdf files). Those files are backed up to a RAID and tape library.
- Windows Updates are run weekly (as needed).
- ILLiad updates/upgrades are run according to your survey choice (see below).
- Hard drive defragmentation is run periodically.
SECURITY
Physical Server Security
- All of the hosted servers are located off-site in a 'bunker' style building.
- A security code is required to gain access to the parking lot.
- A security pass is required to gain access to the building.
- A key is required to gain access inside the rack.
- Generators are available in the event of a power outage.
- All servers have a direct connection to the "backbone" of the ISP.
Network Security
- Ports
- In order to allow access to ILLIad and its various components, the following ports are required to be open on your site's firewall:
- 1433 TCP outbound to your hosted SQL Server.
- 389 for LDAP or 636 for LDAP SSL (optional) between your hosted web server and your LDAP server.
- 4500 for Innopac PatronAPI (optional) between your hosted web server and your Innopac PatronAPI server.
- If you plan on using Z39.50 to search your local OPAC from within ILLiad, you will need to check that the ILLiad Client machines have access to the Z39.50 server over that port. This port differs from OPAC to OPAC so you will need to verify that value.
- For more detail on what these ports are used for, please see the following:
- What Ports are Required to be Open for General ILLiad Use
http://portal.knowledgebase.net/article.asp?article=46967&p=1
- What Ports are Required to be Open for General ILLiad Use
- In order to allow access to ILLIad and its various components, the following ports are required to be open on your site's firewall:
- Firewall
- All servers are located behind a firewall, which is set up to allow only the necessary ports.
- Anti virus software is run on all servers.
Web Page Specific Security
- SSL (optional) - SSL is used to securely transfer the patron's registration information to the server. Atlas can install the certificate on your server for an additional yearly fee.
- The /illiad/webreports and /setup (ILLiad install files) web pages are set up with Anonymous Access turned off, so that a userid and password are required to gain access.
- This login information is given to the ILL and IT contacts per the survey (see below), you may pass this information on to whomever you wish. By default, we set up one username for both web folders, however, if you wish us to use a separate username for each, just let us know.
- Anonymous FTP access is disabled.
ACCESS TO YOUR SERVER
You have access your server via the following:
- FTP access to upload web page modifications.
- HTML access via the web pages to view and use the ILLiad web interface.
- SQL access via the ILLiad client machine. You can request a login for an ODBC Connection (read-only rights to use with Microsoft Access).
INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR SERVER
- Once you have completed the contract and your hosted server is set up, you will receive the following information about your server:
- Links to various html pages: ILLiad Patron Web Interface, ILLiad Lending Web Interface, Web Reports, Setup files and instructions, FTP site, and the Openurl URL.
