Atlas Systems Closes 2013 with Sales Growth and Product Enhancements for ILLiad, Ares and Aeon

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – January 15, 2014 – Atlas Systems, the leading provider of time-saving solutions for libraries, has ended the year with significant new sales for Aeon and Ares as well as first-time subscriptions to its new service offering, Concierge. The company also has met its product release goals with new releases for Ares, Aeon and ILLiad in the 4th quarter of 2013.

Highlights of new sales of Aeon for special collections management include five University of California campuses (UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, UC Riverside, UC San Diego and UC Santa Cruz), University of Maryland, University of Illinois and the Huntington Library.

New sales of Ares e-reserves software include University of Saskatchewan, Wright State University and Georgia Institute of Technology.

Introduced in fall 2013, Concierge is designed to help institutions maximize the ongoing value they derive from using Atlas software while minimizing investments in local staff time and IT resources. Early adopters of Access Services Concierge for ILLiad and Ares include University of Wisconsin – Platteville, Utica College and The Citadel. Aeon Concierge is available to Aeon sites hosted by Atlas Systems.

According to Dan Specht, chief financial officer and vice president of sales and marketing, Atlas ended 2013 having achieved several important milestones, including growth in sales and a firm product enhancement schedule that customers can count on. “Aeon continues to meet with widespread acceptance in the academic community as increasing numbers of special collections managers and library directors recognize the value automation brings to their users,” he said. “Ares has gained broad visibility in Canada as well as with U.S. libraries that are automating reserves for the first time or moving from an older e-reserves system that no longer meets their needs. Concierge is a new concept for our users who are excited about how Atlas Systems can help them achieve their goals by providing extra hands for day to day work and special projects.”

Specht commented that 2013 was notable also for the product enhancements delivered for ILLiad, Ares and Aeon. “We are on a firm development schedule now to deliver new product releases for Ares and Aeon every six months and for ILLiad annually. During the last quarter of the year we released Ares 4.3, Aeon 3.5 and ILLiad 8.4. Each of these releases delivers important new functionality that helps our users improve staff productivity and enhance customer service.”
